In her 1993 Nobel Lecture, Toni Morrison commented that "Word-work is sublime . . . because it is generative; it makes meaning that secures our difference, our human difference - the way in which we are like no other life. We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language. That may be the measure of our lives" We are here in the community of our classroom -- each and every day -- to work on fulfilling the promise that "wordworking" offers -- to help create "measure of our lives.'' This my little chicadees is our noble cause.

On these pages you will find everything you will need to succeed in our class: assignments, readings, ongoing and continuing discussions as well as news relating to the lifeline and business of our class. Remember that we are all assembled here to learn how to effectively communicate -- that's reading, writing, listening and speaking -- and this space is just one more place where we can accomplish this goal. So, visit regularly for updates and all the latest and greatest in wordworking news!
